Privacy Policy

What Applivation does, and does not, do with your data.

Effective October 11, 2026 · Applies to the Applivation app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Applivation is a job-application workspace. The short version: the developer does not collect any data from you. Everything you enter lives on your devices and syncs through your own iCloud account, which the developer cannot see.

App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected. The app includes no telemetry, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs.

Where your information lives

Your information — My Info, plus the résumés, cover letters, and other documents in your Library — is kept in the app's storage on your device. My Info and your text documents are stored encrypted, and the keychain holds the encryption key, not the data. Files you add, such as résumé PDFs, rely on your device's own encryption (on a Mac, FileVault). There is no account to create and no server the developer runs that receives your information.

Applivation may read the text of a job posting from a page you open in an application tab, keep a short excerpt with that application on your device and in your private iCloud database, and use it to rank your cover letters and show what the posting emphasizes. The excerpt is never transmitted to the developer, is not used for any other purpose, and is removed when you delete the application, after 90 days of inactivity, or when you turn Job context off in Settings.

Work-authorization and equal-opportunity (EEO) answers are saved only if you choose to enter them. They are stored and synced like the rest of My Info, and you can erase them on their own in Settings.

Sync across your Apple devices

Sync between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac happens through iCloud using CloudKit, under your own Apple Account. What syncs is end-to-end encrypted in your private iCloud database (CloudKit encrypted fields), so it is not accessible to the developer.

Applivation has no sync switch of its own. If you sign out of iCloud on a device, the synced information is removed from that device, and it comes back when you sign back in to the same Apple Account. If this device has never synced to iCloud, its information stays on it. Changes that had not finished syncing are removed with the rest.

LinkedIn import

If you import a LinkedIn profile, you open a saved LinkedIn-profile PDF that already lives on your device. The file is parsed on-device with Apple's PDFKit and saved to your Library, which syncs end-to-end encrypted through your own iCloud. It is never sent to the developer or to LinkedIn, and no LinkedIn credentials are requested or transmitted. "Import from LinkedIn" means a one-time local file import, not a login.

Browsing job applications inside the app

Job applications open in in-app web tabs inside the app. Those third-party job sites have their own privacy practices, which are outside this policy. Applivation reads the form fields on the page so it can fill them, and it never submits an application for you. Once a field is filled, the page can read it like anything else you type there. You review every field, then submit the application yourself.

Your sign-in to each job site is kept on this device only and never syncs. It is cleared 30 days after you close every application on that site.

When you add a job link, your device uses Apple's link-preview system to fetch that page's title and image. The request goes from your device to the job site, not through the developer, and links to LinkedIn are not fetched.

Optional error reports

Diagnostics are strictly opt-in. If you choose to send an error report, the app opens a pre-addressed email in your own mail client using a mailto: link. Personally-identifying information is scrubbed on-device before the email is composed. Fill statistics are kept locally on your device and are never transmitted.

On-device intelligence

On-device intelligence ranks your cover letters against the job posting you opened and suggests a metro area when you import a profile. It runs entirely on your device; nothing leaves it. An optional Apple Private Cloud Compute tier is deferred to a later release and would require a one-time explicit consent before any use. It is not active at v1.

AI cover-letter drafting and Writing Samples

Cover-letter drafting is optional and off until you turn it on. It uses Apple Intelligence on your device only, reading the captured posting text, your résumé, and your own letters; nothing leaves your device for it, and a draft is always yours to edit or discard.

Writing Samples are text you choose to add so drafts sound like you, and they sync with your iCloud. "Learn from my edits" keeps a history of how you change drafts on this device only. It never syncs, and you can turn it off or clear it in Settings.

Erasing your information

To erase your information, open Settings and choose Erase all data. It erases your information from this device and from iCloud, and it cannot be undone. Your other devices keep their own copy until you choose Erase all data on each of them too. Deleting the app on its own removes only the local copy; the iCloud copy stays until you erase it.

What this website does

This marketing website runs no analytics scripts and loads nothing from third parties. There are no CDN fonts and no external CSS; the pages use the system font that is already on your device. A single first-party cookie remembers which country's App Store price to show — it contains only a country code and identifies no one.

Children

Applivation is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly receive information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Because the developer holds no app data about you, a policy change cannot affect any.

Contact

Questions about privacy: email [email protected]. Leave sensitive personal information out of a support email — a description of the problem is enough.

If you email support

Support email is the one place the developer handles personal data. If you write to [email protected], Magnetic Anomaly LLC — the developer of Applivation — is the data controller for what you send: your email address and whatever your message contains. It is used only to answer you and to fix the problem you report, on the legal basis of the developer's legitimate interest in providing support (GDPR and UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Support emails are deleted within 90 days of the issue being resolved, and are never used for marketing or anything else.

You can ask at the same address to see what the developer holds from your emails, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. If you are in the EU or the UK and are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in Canada, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (priv.gc.ca). Complaints sent directly to the developer are acknowledged and handled in line with the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

Everything you enter in the app itself stays in the app and your own iCloud, so there is no app data to delete on the developer's side.
